What Dumont Signal does with connected accounts
Who connects what
Dumont runs Signal for its own brands and publishes to the Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn pages Dumont administers. A customer connects their own accounts and publishes to the pages they administer. In both cases the connection is made by someone who already has the right to post on that page, and Signal cannot reach a page nobody has connected.
Why it connects to a LinkedIn company page
Signal publishes a company page’s own organic posts on a schedule instead of by hand. To do that it needs permission to read the basic details of a company page the connecting person administers, so the right page can be picked, and permission to publish a post as that page. It does not read or post to personal profiles, and it cannot publish to a page the connecting person does not administer.
What is stored
Three things. The content authored in the tool, including any image attached to a post. The identifier and name of the page or account a post is published to. The OAuth token that lets Signal publish on that page’s behalf. Member profiles, connections, follower lists and other people’s activity are not collected.
How long it is kept
Posts and their publishing history stay in the instance while the account is connected, so you can see what went out and when. The OAuth token is stored only while the account stays connected. Disconnecting an account in Signal deletes that token, and revoking access from inside the network stops Signal publishing straight away. A customer can ask for their content to be deleted at any time.
Whose data it is, and what is not done with it
A customer’s content and connected accounts belong to that customer. Dumont processes them on the customer’s behalf under the Data Processing Agreement, for the purpose of publishing what the customer scheduled. One organisation’s data is never used for another. Nothing is sold, nothing is shared with third parties beyond the network a post is published to, and there is no advertising product, audience building or profiling behind this.
Where it stands today
Signal is early. Facebook and Instagram are connected on the running instance, and LinkedIn publishing is going through LinkedIn’s own app review. There is no self-serve signup yet, so if you want your brand’s accounts on it, ask us and we will take it from there.
